About Us

Founded in March 2018 by Allison Rector as “Montreal Shuffle Movement”, Montréal Shuffle is the first and only community dedicated to the growth and development of shuffle dancing in the Montreal area.

Registered as a non-profit organisation since July 2021, its main mission is to promote shuffling, provide means for shufflers to grow in their dance journey and break isolation by making shuffling a positive social experience. We welcome equally the Australia-rooted styles (Melbourne, Californian, Russian, Malaysian), the UK-rooted styles (cutting shapes/house shuffle and konijnendans) as well as the more recent hybrid styles.

We firmly believe in innovation, therefore we try to foster creativity in order to help dancers bring shuffle in new directions. We also welcome and encourage collaboration with dancers of others styles of electronic music dancing, like electro, jumpstyle, freestep, and others.

Our community focuses mostly on peer-learning between dancers. We want to help shufflers level up through meetups, workshops, classes and other activities in which they will find others who share their love for dancing and electronic music, all within a no-pressure, beginner-friendly environment.

There is no bad or invalid reason to shuffle. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and experience. Those who want to show off, those who want to burn calories or those who simply want to express themselves through a beautiful outlet such as dance.

What matters is that you have a good time, and we'll do all we can for it!
